FAQ

What people wonder most about Trivvy, with short answers.

What is Trivvy?

A free quiz game where you type the answer yourself. You can play with friends in a room, against a random opponent, with the family around the table or alone. It runs in the browser on phone, tablet and computer.

How do I get started?

Open the front page and tap the green button at the top. The first time it's the daily quiz, which takes a couple of minutes and doesn't need anyone else. To play with friends, tap “Create a new room” and share the code. You'll be asked for a nickname, and that's it.

Do I need an account?

No. Everything can be played as a guest. An account gives you a rating per category, a place on the leaderboards, friends and your history on every device you log in from. If you played as a guest before creating an account, your history from that browser comes along.

Does it cost anything?

No. Trivvy is free and paid for by ads. On phones and tablets the ads appear in the breaks – while you wait for the others or look at the solution – and not while you're typing your answer. No ads are shown in a family game with kids.

How is it decided whether my answer is right?

First the app compares your answer with the solution and the variants on the card. Small typos and spellings that sound the same are accepted, and for years an answer within the margin shown on the card is accepted. Answers that are obviously wrong are rejected straight away. Only when the app can't decide by itself does it ask a language model whether your answer means the same as the solution. In Quiz rush only the app's own comparison is used, so rephrasings count as wrong there.

Can I answer in another language?

Yes. Answers in any of the languages the card exists in are accepted. Typing “Eiffeltårnet” or “Tour Eiffel” in an English room is just as right as “Eiffel Tower”.

What do I do if a correct answer was judged wrong?

In a room you can dispute the answer while the solution is shown. The others in the room then vote, and the majority decides whether you get the point. If it's the card itself that's wrong, you can tell us with “Something wrong with this card?”.

How do I report a mistake in a question?

Tap “Something wrong with this card?” where the solution is shown, in rooms and in the daily quiz. You can write what's wrong, but you don't have to. We get the card and the answer you gave, and fix the mistake. You don't need an account to report.

How do I play with friends?

Create a room and share the code or the link – your friends join without an account. If you want to play at different times, make a challenge instead. With an account you can add friends, see who's playing right now and how things stand between you.

Which languages is Trivvy available in?

Norwegian, English, Swedish, Danish, German, Dutch, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and Polish. The first time, the app guesses the language from your phone and the country you're in, and you can switch at any time with the globe at the top right. Two players in the same room can read the same question in different languages. A card that hasn't been translated into your language yet is shown in English.

How does rating work?

With an account you get a rating per category, starting at 800. After each round in a room with others it goes up or down depending on how you did against each of the others – beating someone with a high rating gives more than beating someone with a low one. Quiz battle has its own rating, which applies to guests too. The daily quiz, rooms where you're alone and ghost rounds don't give rating.

What do you store about me?

If you play as a guest, your nickname and avatar are stored in your browser, and a random guest ID in a cookie. If you have an account, we store your email address, your password in encrypted form and your display name. We also store your answers and results, because leaderboards, rating and stats are built on them. The full overview is in the privacy policy.

How do I delete my account?

Go to My profile and choose to delete your account. Your profile, email address, rating, friends list and the rounds you played alone are deleted right away. Results from rounds you played with others stay with them as “Deleted player”, with no name and no link to you.

Do I need to download an app?

No, Trivvy runs in the browser. On your phone you can add it to your home screen, and it then opens like an app in full screen.

Who is Trivvy for?

The game is made for teens and adults. In the family game, kids can join in at their own level together with adults. If you're under 13, you need consent from a parent or guardian to create an account.
