How the test works

The test has twelve questions, two from each of the six classic trivia categories: geography, entertainment, history, arts, science and sports. The first six are of medium difficulty. Your answers to them decide the next six: get one right, and the follow-up in that category is harder; miss it, and the next one is easier.

There is no timer. You type your answers, see the right answer after each question, and get your result at the end – a rating for each category and an overall level.

What the result is used for

Trivvy rates every question by how often players get it right, on the same scale as the players themselves. Once you know your level, the longer rounds and Quiz Rush can pick questions where you are likely to get about seven in ten right: hard enough to be interesting, easy enough to be fun.

Your level keeps adjusting as you play. The test only gives the starting point, so you do not need to play dozens of rounds before the questions start to fit.

See your strengths

The result shows where you shine and where there is room to improve – maybe you are a history buff who struggles with sports, or the other way around. You can take the test again after thirty days to see how far you have come.

It is also a fun way to compare with friends: take the test together and see who comes out on top in each category, and who has the highest level overall.
