Trivia battle: one against one

Get matched with another player at your level and race through the same questions. Three lives each, and the clock is ticking.

Trivvy’s trivia battle is a free online duel. You are matched with another player at a similar rating, and you both race through the same questions with three lives each while the clock runs. You type your answers, a wrong answer costs a life, and the player with the higher score wins the round.

How a battle works

Press start and Trivvy looks for an opponent whose rating is close to yours. When you are matched, you both get the same questions in the same order, with three or five minutes and three lives each. Type the answer, press Enter, and the next question appears straight away.

During the battle you see your opponent's score and how many lives they have left – but never their answers, since you are both answering the same questions. When time runs out or both players are out of lives, the one with the most points wins.

Always someone to play

If nobody is in the queue after twenty seconds, you can play against a ghost instead: a real round another player played earlier, replayed answer by answer with the same timing. It feels like a live match, but ghost games never change your rating.

After a battle against a real player, you can both ask for a rematch. When both say yes, a new round starts with new questions.

A rating that follows you

Every battle against a real opponent moves your battle rating up or down, depending on how strong they were. This works even without an account, so the more you play, the more evenly matched your opponents are. With a free account, the rating is saved to your profile across devices.

Fair judging

Answers are judged instantly by the same rules for both players: small typos and common alternative names are accepted. At the end you get every question you answered alongside the correct solution, so you can see where the battle was won or lost.

Battles are short and intense, which makes them perfect for a coffee break: one round takes three or five minutes, and you can queue up for another straight away.
